Extract Audio from Video

Pull the audio track out of any video and save it as an MP3.

Upload a video and get the audio extracted as a high-quality MP3 file.

Extracting audio from video is useful for pulling music from a performance recording, saving podcast audio from a video file, creating audio-only versions of interviews, or getting a soundtrack out of a downloaded clip.

The audio is extracted using ffmpeg and encoded to MP3 at high quality (VBR Q2), which gives excellent audio fidelity at a reasonable file size. VBR Q2 targets approximately 170–210 kbps — significantly better than the 128 kbps used by many converters.

If the video has no audio track, the conversion will fail with an error message. Use our File Metadata viewer to check the file's properties before converting if you're unsure.
