Image Sharpener

Enhance image clarity and bring out fine details.

Apply sharpening to JPG, PNG, or WebP images to improve clarity. Adjust the sigma value to control the sharpening strength.

Sharpening works by amplifying contrast along edges in the image. It makes photos look crisper and more defined — particularly useful for images that were slightly soft due to camera shake, focus drift, or aggressive JPEG compression from earlier processing.

Our tool uses the industry-standard unsharp mask algorithm via Sharp, which is the same technique used in Photoshop's Unsharp Mask filter. The sigma parameter controls the radius of the sharpening kernel — think of it as controlling how wide the edge enhancement is.

Sharpening is best applied as a final step before publishing, after all resizing and color adjustments are done. Look for halos around high-contrast edges as a sign you've applied too much sharpening.

How to use Image Sharpener

  1. Step 1: Upload your JPG, PNG, or WebP.
  2. Step 2: Adjust the sigma slider — 1.0 is the default. Values between 0.5 and 2.0 work well for most images. Higher values sharpen more broadly; lower values target fine details only.
  3. Step 3: Click "Convert now" and download your sharpened image.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the sigma setting do?

Sigma controls the radius of sharpening. Higher values sharpen more broadly; lower values sharpen fine details only.

Can sharpening fix a blurry photo?

Sharpening enhances edges and texture but cannot recover focus that was not captured. It works best on slightly soft images.
